Technical datasheet
Description
The polyconal antibody recognizes human M-ficolin, also known as ficolin-1 and ficolin/P35-related protein. Ficolins are a group of proteins containing both a collagen-like domain and a fibrinogen-like domain. They are found in various tissues. The domain organizations between ficolins and mannose binding lectin (MBL) are similar, although the carbohydrate-binding moieties are different. In man two types of ficolins (L-ficolin and H-ficolin) are present in serum and one type (M-ficolin) in monocytes, leukocytes and lung cells. The two serum lectins are associated with MBL-associated serine proteases (MASPs) and small MBL-associated protein (sMAP), and both activate the lectin pathway of complement.
The third ficolin, M-ficolin, has 75.3% amino acid identity with L-ficolin and 47.8% identity with H-ficolin. Its mRNA is present in leukocytes and lung. Like its family members L-ficolin and H-ficolin, M-ficolin is associated with MASPs and sMAP and activates the lectin pathway.
The antibody to human M-ficolin is cross reactive with human L-ficolin.
Formulation
1 ml (50 µg/ml) 0.2 µm filtered antibody solution in PBS, containing 0.02% sodium azide and 0.1% bovine serum albumin.
Species
Rabbit IgG
Application
The polyclonal antibody can be used for Western blotting and flow cytometry. Furthermore the polyclonal antibody is useful for immunofluorescence.
Use
For flow cytometry, immunofluorescence and Western blotting dilutions to be used depend on detection system applied. It is recommended that users test the reagent and determine their own optimal dilutions. The typical starting working dilution is 1:50.
Storage and stability
Product should be stored at 4°C. Under recommended storage conditions, product is stable for one year.
