TNF, proteins description
TNF and TNF-Receptors are members of the family of TNF related proteins. Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF) was discovered as a protein that induces in vivo necrosis of methylcholantrene induced fibrosarcomas in mice. Later it was found to be an important pleiotrophic inflammatory cytokine. TNF-Receptors (TNF-R) are present on most cell types and considered to play a prominent role in cell stimulation by TNF-alpha and the soluble Lymphotoxin homotrimer (LTalpha3). Two types of TNF-R exist: TNF-RI (TNF-R p55 or CD120a) and TNF-RII (TNF-R p75 or CD120b). HB has a unique range of well-characterized functional TNF and TNF-R antibodies for both man, mouse and rat.
