Description
Monoclonal antibody 35C1 reacts with mammalian aurora-A kinase which is a member of the kinase family that is named after the Drosophila aurora kinase Nigg. There are three different kinases (aurora-A, aurora-B and aurora-C) which are involved in centrosome separation. Aurora kinases share a conserved C-terminal kinase catalytic domain but have a different N-terminal non catalytic domain. They show different localization during mitosis and fulfill different functions. The most important feature of these kinases is that they are overexpressed in various primary tumors. For instance aurora-A is significantly downregulated in a subset of breast tumors.

Aurora-A kinase is also known as aurora-related kinase 1 (ARK1), breast-tumor-amplified kinase (BTAK) and serine/threonine kinase 6 or 15 (STK6 or STK15).

Monoclonal antibody 35C1 has been selected for reactivity with human and mouse aurora-A kinase and binds to duplicated centrosomes and spindle poles. Monoclonal antibody 35C1 does not inhibit the aurora-A kinase activity.
Cross Reactivity
 Cross reactant  Reactivity
 Mouse  Yes
Formulation
1 ml (100 µg/ml) 0.2 µm filtered antibody solution in PBS, containing 0.02% sodium azide and 0.1% bovine serum albumin.
Species
Mouse IgG2b
Application
The antibody can be used for immunohistology on frozen and paraffin sections, flow cytometry and Western blotting. Furthermore the antibody is useful for immuno precipitation and immuno assays as detector. The antibody does not inhibit the biological activity of aurora-A kinase.
Use
For Western blotting, flow cytometry and immunohistology dilutions to be used depend on detection system applied. It is recommended that users test the reagent and determine their own optimal dilutions. The typical starting working dilution is 1:10.
Storage and stability
Product should be stored at 4°C. Under recommended storage conditions, product is stable for one year.
