Description
Human transferrin receptor 1 (TfR1), also designated CD71, is a homodimeric type II membrane glycoprotein of 90-95 kDa. This receptor binds two molecules of the serum iron-transport protein transferrin (Tf) and is internalised into endosomes that are acidified, resulting in the release of iron from Tf. TfR1 is not expressed on resting leukocytes but is upregulated on all proliferating cells upon activation, reflecting the iron dependence of proliferation. In tissues TfR1 is expressed on most dividing cells and on brain capillary endothelium. Expression of TfR1 is down regulated as a result of iron overload. TfR1 shares 45% identity with TfR2.
Formulation
1 ml (100 µg/ml) 0.2 µm filtered antibody solution in PBS, containing 0.02% sodium azide and 0.1% bovine serum albumin.
Species
Mouse IgG1
Application
The monoclonal antibody 3B8 2A1 can be used for immunohistology on frozen sections, flow cytometry and Western blotting. Furthermore the monoclonal antibody 3B8 2A1 is useful for immuno precipitation and immuno assays as detector. The monoclonal antibody 3B8 2A1 does not inhibit the biological activity of TfR1.
Use
For Western blotting, flow cytometry and immunohistology dilutions to be used depend on detection system applied. It is recommended that users test the reagent and determine their own optimal dilutions. The typical starting working dilution is 1:10.
Storage and stability
Product should be stored at 4°C. Under recommended storage conditions, product is stable for one year.
